Sir Herbert Samuel Holt

Born at Ballycrystal, Geashill, Co. Offaly in 1855. He studied civil engineering and emigrated to Canada in 1875.

He worked on the railway as engineer and contractor. In 1892 he became involved in banking eventually becoming President of the Royal Bank of Canada. He died in 1941.
